SHODEN WAZA:
|
Seiza Mae ("Kneeling Front") is the basic waza of Eishin-Ryuu. From the seiza position, the practitioner performs three centering ("cleansing") breaths. On the last breath, the practitioner steps forward with the right leg, and the katana is drawn from the saya to slash horizontally across the attacker's eyes (nukitsuke.) With the opponent thus distracted, he is dispatched with kirioroshi ("dropping cut"). The practitioner cleanses the blade with chiburi, sheathes the sword with noutou, and returns to seiza.
