Oikaze ("Windchaser") emulates chasing an opponent who is trying to escape, or rushing an opponent who is at a distance but unprepared for your attack. Today, this waza is often performed slightly different than shown here by Nagae-sensei. Oikaze is the only Shoden waza performed entirely in the standing position. In the contemporary version, rise onto your tiptoes and shuffle forward in three half-steps before performing nukitsuke. Furikaburi, kirioroshi, Oumori-ryuu chiburi and nouto are not significantly different from the other Shoden waza.
