Tsukekomi ("Seize the Opportunity") begins with the iadouka facing straight ahead in seiza. At the third inhalation step forward into nukitsuke which is completed at full iagoshi (standing posture). Raise the sword into furikaburi and step forward into nakaba kirioshi, or "half-kirioshi," which ends up being less than lethal to your opponent. Quickly shuffle forward into a second full kirioshi to dispatch the enemy. Step back into the natural posture called shizentai with the sword held high in joudan. Lower slowly, protecting yourself with the katana, perform a wiping motion instead of chiburi, following as always with nouto and stepping back with the left foot into the starting position.
